The Nexus of Night

Trees dampened by the veil of night, shivering by the beat of the drums. Smoke and flame form the point of the circle, the nexus from which all magic pours. We circumnavigate the flames, wild in our worship. The strength of our bonds hold us fast. The fear of the night, the wild men stalking, the beasts who howl and make their presence known, all are nothing to the fierceness of the dance. We are shirtless, men all, and we shout our challenge to the night.

We held forth a sword, and we claimed our strength, and nothing now need fear us lest they seek to do us harm. For we are compassion, we are love, we are death and we are life.

I pass by my brothers, and feel their strength as mine.

The stars shine, the fire roars, the trees are silent, the men howl. For this moment, we are one.
